Job Summary:
The Music Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the music education program at School of Rock Fort Mill, ensuring high-quality instruction and an exceptional student experience. This role leads the design and execution of curriculum, student performance programming, and the day-to-day supervision of music instructors. The Music Director fosters a positive, inclusive, and performance-based learning environment that supports the musical growth of all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement music curriculum in alignment with School of Rock standards. Instruct students through private lessons and group rehearsals. Plan, promote, and oversee performance shows, including casting, rehearsals, and final production. Train and guide show directors to maintain high educational and performance standards. Collaborate with the Franchise Owner and General Manager to select show themes and drive ticket sales. Conduct new student and parent tours in partnership with the General Manager. Maintain music equipment and ensure readiness for lessons and performances. Regularly communicate with parents regarding student progress and address concerns. Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and supporting instructors on teaching methods and curriculum adherence. Open and close the school in accordance with established business hours and adjust availability during show seasons and summer camps. Ensure adherence to the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ professional music teaching and/or performing experience. Strong knowledge of music theory and curriculum design. Proven ability to lead and mentor instructors. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and team members. Enthusiastic, patient, and positive demeanor. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal music education or certification. Experience with School of Rock teaching methods and curriculum. Active performing musician.
Working Conditions:
Evening and weekend work required, especially during performances and summer camps. Frequent standing, moving between rehearsal rooms, and occasional lifting of equipment (up to 25 lbs). Exposure to loud music environments.
