About the Role We are seeking a full-time Director of Traditional Worship and Music Arts to lead our traditional worship services and develop a vibrant, multigenerational music ministry. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated staff team and a congregation eager to worship through classic hymns, choral music, and meaningful liturgy. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead weekly traditional worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and worship team. Direct the Chancel Choir and lead congregational singing. Build and oversee a music ministry for adults, youth, and children, including vocal and instrumental ensembles. Organize and lead worship for special services (Christmas, Easter, Ash Wednesday, etc.). Recruit, train, and support worship volunteers (musicians, acolytes, ushers, Communion servers). Manage worship-related communications, media, and bulletins in coordination with the Creative Media Director. Maintain music equipment and choir resources. Collaborate with the Director of Contemporary Worship and provide occasional support to the contemporary service. Participate in the Church Council and Leadership Team. Qualifications A strong personal faith consistent with United Methodist doctrine and theology. Proficiency in traditional church music, choral direction, and worship leadership, incorporating various musical ensembles as appropriate. Proven experience directing choirs and planning traditional worship services. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people of all ages and musical backgrounds. Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) worship technology and church communication tools. Ability to recruit, lead, and develop both volunteer and professional musicians. Experience in planning and executing worship services and special events. Proficiency with church-based media and presentations, technology, livestreaming, and budgeting. Bachelor of Arts in music, choral arts, or other applicable degree preferred or equivalent in experience. Why OUMC?
