Position Overview:

The Church Pianist is a parttime contract position responsible for providing musical accompaniment for worship services, choir rehearsals, and other churchrelated events. This role is integral to the church’s music ministry, supporting congregational worship and enhancing the spiritual life of the church through music.

Qualifications & Qualities:

Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent musical expertise preferred.
Experience as a choir accompanist and church pianist preferred.
Strong sightreading skills required.
Ability to collaborate effectively with church staff, volunteers, and musicians.
A commitment to serving the church and its congregation with dedication, creativity, and love.
Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and play piano music for worship services, in coordination with the Pastor and Choir Director. This includes prelude, postlude, hymns, anthems, and accompaniment for the Choir, as well as soloists, ensembles, and handbells as needed.
Rehearse sufficiently to ensure highquality performance.
Accompany choir rehearsals and additional rehearsals as needed.
Meet or consult with the Choir Director for planning/coordination of the church’s music ministry.
Assist in arranging for piano maintenance and tuning as needed.
Secure substitutes when unavailable for rehearsal or worship with approval of Choir Director.
Provide accompaniment for weddings and funerals as requested, with additional compensation as outlined in the church’s wedding and funeral policies. Communicate effectively with church leadership and volunteers.
Dedicate Personal practice, music selection, and worship planning to ensure high quality of performance.
Accompany choir rehearsals and choir anthems, as well as soloists, ensembles, and handbells as needed.
Approximate weekly hours will vary based on church needs and seasonal events such as Holy Week and Christmas. Sunday rehearsal and worship (normal expectations 10:30

Contract Terms:
Contract Rate:

Will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This contract is set to be concluded on December 31, 2025, with the possibility of renewal. Compensation will be reviewed upon renewal.
Monthly compensation is based on services performed during worship and choir rehearsals during the month.
Invoices must be submitted by the last working day of the month to church office.
