JOB DESCRIPTION

Modern Worship Leader Position

• Contract, Annually Reports to
• Director of Worship & Music, Senior Pastor Northbrook United Methodist Church is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and spiritual Modern Worship Leader.

The worship leader’s principal function is to work closely with the Director of Worship & Music and Senior Pastor in the planning, administration, and execution of the Modern Worship service, called “The Brook,” to deepen the worshiping and spiritual life of the church. Also, the worship leader will be responsible for training and organizing any volunteers who are interested in participating in modern worship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING

GENERAL

• Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with church staff, volunteers, and members.
• Display a passion for music, worship and God’s people
• Attend all worship services, and special events and meetings as needed.
• When available, provide music for funerals and weddings (additional stipend)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with Director of Worship & Music to plan weekly worship.
• Maintain the Brook Band Schedule.
• Organize and distribute lead sheets and practice recordings weekly for band members.
• Organize and lead weekly band rehearsals.
• Lead Sunday morning rehearsal/sound check.
• Create weekly worship slides for ProPresenter.
• Recruit and train volunteers to participate in modern worship, as needed.
• Be a supportive role for traditional worship on a weekly basis.

(e.g. attend scheduled choir rehearsals and sing in the choir on Sundays, assist with sectional rehearsals and direct the choir as needed, provide solos for worship)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

• Team player; experience working collaboratively
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience serving in a church or worship setting is preferred.
• Gifted vocalist (instrumental skills preferred
• piano/guitar)
• Leadership skills for directing a team of volunteers.

TIME COMMITMENT AND SALARY

• 10-12 hrs/week (negotiable)
• Compensation range is $15,000
• $21,000 dependent on experience and hours.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
