Job Summary:

Trinity United Methodist Church seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Sexton to oversee the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of the church building and grounds. The Sexton plays a vital role in ensuring that the church is a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained space for worship, fellowship, and community activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance & Cleaning

• Ensure all areas of the church, including the sanctuary, fellowship hall, restrooms, offices, and common areas, are clean and well-maintained.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal.
• Monitor and restock restrooms and other supplies as needed. Building & Grounds Upkeep
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, minor repairs, and basic plumbing needs.
• Ensure sidewalks and entryways are clear of debris, snow, and ice as needed.
• Monitor heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, reporting issues to church leadership. Event & Worship Service Support
• Prepare the church for worship services, meetings, weddings, funerals, and special events, including setting up chairs, tables, and equipment as needed.
• Unlock and secure the building for scheduled services and events.
• Assist in coordinating with outside vendors and maintenance professionals when repairs or specialized services are needed. Security & Safety
• Ensure the church is secure when not in use, including locking doors and windows.
• Report any safety concerns or maintenance issues to the appropriate church staff or committee.
• Be available for emergencies related to the building and grounds.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in custodial, maintenance, or facilities management preferred.
• Ability to perform light physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to the mission of the church.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings.

Compensation & Schedule:

Hourly wage: $20 per hour

Schedule:

Approximately 20 hours per week, with some flexibility depending on church needs. 4 hours per day, 5 days a week, expected to include Friday and Sunday mornings. How to
