Full Job Description Title:
Bass Player (Worship Team) Responsible to (Answers to): Direct report to Worship Leader / Administrative oversight: Pastor + Staff Parish Relations Team St. Marks United Methodist Church of Chattanooga is looking for a talented and creative bass player to join our worship band.
Purpose:
Produce the best possible atmosphere for worship through music. Ultimately, we seek to glorify God by providing an excellent and engaging worship experience that facilitates a spirit of genuine worship, and helps people experience the living, loving presence of God.
Qualifications & Skills Required :
1. A heart for worshiping and serving God by using your gifts and skills in worship arts. 2. You have made a personal profession of faith in Christ and are seeking to grow in your relationship to him (growing in Christ-likeness). Agreeable to United Methodist doctrine and theology and the unique worship environment of St. Marks UMC. 3. Able to work in a team setting and take directions. A team player who has a collaborative, teachable spirit. 4. Has experience playing with a band.
Commitments :
1. Participate in our weekly rehearsal on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM. 2. Participate in run-through and sound check Sunday morning at 8:30 AM. 3. Participate in the Sunday morning worship service each Sunday at 10 AM. 4. Learn the assigned songs from the charts and recordings so that you come to Thursday’s rehearsal prepared and ready to perform with excellence. 5. Able to play quality and creative bass lines appropriate to the given style. 6. Take direction and offer constructive input as a contributor to the team. 7. Join with other band members in leading the congregation with a worshipful, joyful heart. Candidates must have their own bass.
On-campus time required:
(4 hours / week)
- 8:30 AM
- 11:00 AM (set-up for rehearsal, rehearse with band, play in worship)
- 6:00 PM
- 7:30 PM rehearse with band and vocals.
Pay:
The salary for this position is $100/week.
