The Church Keyboard Musician will be responsible for leading and supporting the musical worship during services, special events, and other church gatherings. This role requires a talented and passionate individual who can play the keyboard proficiently and contribute musically to a variety of worship styles, including contemporary, traditional, and gospel.
Key Responsibilities:
Musical Leadership:
Play keyboard during all worship services, including Sundays, and special church events. Support and accompany the worship team and vocalists with an appropriate mix of music. Collaborate with the Pastor, worship leader and team to plan and prepare music for each service, ensuring it aligns with the church’s vision and message.
Musical Preparation:
Review and practice songs ahead of time to ensure readiness for rehearsals and services. Proficiency in reading sheet music and chord charts is needed but not required, but must be prepared to improvise when necessary. Participate in weekly rehearsals to practice with the worship band and vocal team.
Song Selection and Arrangement:
Contribute to the selection of songs and arrangements based on the church’s worship style and themes. Be flexible in adapting to different worship styles, including traditional hymns, contemporary worship, and gospel music.
Performance and Support:
Provide musical accompaniment during occasional special events. Support the worship team with musical transitions between worship songs and prayer or sermon segments.
Equipment Management:
Ensure the keyboard and associated equipment are in good working condition. Report any technical issues with the keyboard, sound system, or other musical equipment to the technical team.
Spiritual Support:
Foster a spirit of worship through music, contributing to an atmosphere of reverence and celebration. Maintain a humble, servant-hearted approach to leading worship and collaborating with others in the ministry.
Professional Development:
Stay current with worship trends, music styles, and new songs to bring creativity and freshness to the worship ministry.
Qualifications:
Proven ability to play the keyboard proficiently and musically. Previous experience leading or playing in a worship setting preferred. Strong ear for music and improvisation. A passion for worship and serving the church community through music. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Flexible and adaptable to different worship styles and music genres. A heart for ministry and the ability to engage with congregational worship. Strong communication skills, both verbal and musical.
Additional Requirements:
