POSITION SUMMARY
The Collaborative Pianist at Stewarts Creek High School is an integral role within the Fine Arts Academy faculty, who serve a dynamic student body with a proven track record of success in the Arts. In addition to rigorous ensemble instruction, students at Stewarts Creek enjoy a weekly Recital Hour, in-school private instruction led by a comprehensive team of adjunct applied instructors, and regular studio recitals. As such, this position is an integrated part of students’ educational experience, preparing young performers for individual performance and audition opportunities. This position will also teach two Class Piano classes each semester, establishing/strengthening piano skills for future college Arts majors and introducing piano to the student body.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Play for student instrumentalists and vocalists at weekly Recital Hour performances.
Play for student vocalists and instrumentalists at studio recitals.
Coach students for high-stakes auditions (summer programs, college auditions, etc).
Teach two 90-minute Class Piano classes each semester.
Other responsibilities based on the interests of the candidate (diction, audition preparation, etc)
Additional opportunities for collaborative piano are possible for additional compensation, including playing for choirs, auditions, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in music or equivalent. Masters or Doctorate preferred.
5+ years experience as a collaborative pianist.
Meet criteria for or hold a valid TN license is preferred.

Stewarts Creek High School is a zoned, public school in Rutherford County, Tennessee (about 20 miles southeast of Nashville). The Stewarts Creek Fine Arts Academy is a conservatory-style education within Stewarts Creek High School, offering students a focused study in the Arts while enjoying the benefits of a comprehensive high school, including: A process-based curriculum, focusing on collaboration and student leadership;

The Theater placed fourth in the 2025 Southeastern Theater Conference One-Act Competition and regularly places in state and regional competitions;

The central performance space at Stewarts Creek High School is the 640-seat Red Hawk Theater, which includes a 1981 6’8″ Kawai KG-5C Grand Piano. The choir room holds two 5’10” rehearsal pianos. Other keyboard instruments include a Zuckerman single-manual Franco-Flemish harpsichord in decent repair and a three-manual digital pipe organ running Hauptwerk.
