Do you enjoy working with dogs and cats? If so, this might be the job for you. Here at West Madison Veterinary Hospital we are looking for kennel assistants who are able to care for and love on our clients fur babies while they are away! We are not only an excellent full service veterinary hospital, we also offer a top-of-the-line pet resort. A place where owners can rest assured their pets are receiving the highest quality of care while they are away. We are looking for individuals that can work on a flexible schedule, have a love for animals, are eager to learn and work in a high-energy, fast paced environment. Requirements:

Comfortable working with all breeds and sizes of dogs and cats. Able to stand for long periods of time.

Job requires:

walking, lifting 40+ lbs, bending, standing and crouching. Must work outside in all temperatures to get dogs out for their daily walks. Eager to learn and take on new task. Is able to listen, as well as follow verbal and written instructions. Comfortable talking to owners about their pet’s stay. Have a friendly and positive attitude towards both owners and pets. Have a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends. Enjoys working with a team and willing to learn new things every day. 18 years or older Duties and responsibilities: Clean and maintain kennels, including scooping, hosing, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, sterilizing, etc. Clean and maintain common kennel areas and hospital areas as requested. Laundry, dishes, walking dogs, and providing personal play time for dogs and cats. Assist with feeding and medications as needed and directed. Notate every duty as it is completed. Help prepare paperwork for fully booked or busy times. Other duties will be assigned as needed. Recommended but not required to apply:

NO EXPERIENCE

NEEDED, but is a plus! Able to train from within! If you have a history of kennel work or previous experience with animal care, Familiarity with Avimark practice management software that is great, but not required. Basic computer knowledge. Basic knowledge of puppy/kitten care. Previous experience with animal restraint for treatment, is a plus. Previous experience with bathing both cats and dogs, is a plus. Any other outside experience you can offer is always welcome.
