Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Professional to join our team and assist in the daily care and well-being of our exotic and farm animals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with animals and ensuring their comfort and safety. We are a small micro sanctuary (2 acres) that is part of an expanding humane educational program. We are in process of building a 7 acre sanctuary located in Tarpon Springs off east lake road, just down the street We have a wide variety of animals
- farm animals and exotics including small primates.
Duties:
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, and grooming
- Assist with animal handling and transportation
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the supervisor
- Clean and maintain animal enclosures and living areas
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Assist with basic veterinary procedures such as animal catheterization
- Support educational programs
Skills:
- Proficient in animal handling techniques
- Knowledge of animal physiology and behavior
- Experience with farm and exotic animal care is a plus
- Ability to handle animals safely and effectively
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant duties
- Previous experience in zoo or sanctuary operations is advantageous
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Requirements:
- The ideal Applicant will have college and/or work experience related to wildlife rescue, wildlife rehab, vet tech, zoology, farm or exotic animal sanctuary.
- Degree or Certification in a related field or any degree plus related experience
- Proven experience working with a variety of animals
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the role
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate attitude towards animals
- Must be 100% reliable with no lateness or reliability concerns.
- Must be strong and able to lift with no physical limitations.
- Must not be sensitive to body fluids, smells, or loud noises (thanks animals).
- Must not have an issue being outside
- in the heat, rain or cold.
- Must have reliable transportation, verifiable references. No smoking, drugs, or felonies.
- Agree to get all required vaccinations.

Our organization is 100% plant-based and humans may not eat/bring animal products on campus.
