LEAD KENNEL TECHNICIAN
to join our kennel team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals & their care with a strong understanding of animal behavior. As Lead Kennel Technician, you will oversee the daily operations of both our Boarding areas. You will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care while providing excellent customer service to pet owners. This position requires hands-on experience with dogs and other animals, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a AM & PM shift with rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Kennel staff in daily tasks & with the daycare team
- Ensure the proper care, feeding, and exercise of animals in the facility
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals under care
- Assist in administering medications to animals
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennel areas
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners
- Handle heavy lifting tasks as needed
- Handle animals safely and securely during check-in, check-out, and while in the kennel
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the kennel area and yards
- Previous experience working with animals & in a leadership role
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with pet owners in a professional manner
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evening shifts as needed
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medications, and behavior observations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or animal care setting
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks
- Please note that this position is a AM & PM position, 6:45am to 1:30pm & 1pm to 7:30pm Monday thru Friday & requires rotating weekends & Holidays.
