Zoo Crew / Animal Transport Capybara Cafe 10215 Light Ave, Hastings, FL 32145 Job Overview We are looking for reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving individuals to join our Sanctuary Crew. This position is based at our off-site animal sanctuary and focuses exclusively on animal care and transportation. Crew members will be responsible for feeding, cleaning, monitoring, and transporting a variety of exotic and domestic animals, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times. This is a hands-on, outdoor job that requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to follow direction closely. Applicants must be comfortable working with a wide range of animals and performing routine animal care tasks in all weather conditions. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Animal Husbandry and Daily Care Feed and water animals according to daily diet schedules. Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, barns, kennels, and transport crates. Maintain safe and enriched environments for a wide variety of species. Observe animal behavior and health, and report any issues or concerns to management immediately. Prep and portion animal meals following dietary guidelines. 2. Transportation & Facility Support Drive animals between the sanctuary and the Capybara Cafe in St. Augustine in provided vehicles (must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record). Load and unload animals safely and calmly. Help with setting up and breaking down enclosures and habitats for transport. 3. Enclosure Maintenance & Building Assist with building, fixing, and maintaining animal habitats and enclosures. Use tools and follow safety guidelines for enclosure repairs and construction projects. 4. Inventory & Communication Monitor food and supply levels and communicate with management when items need to be restocked or ordered. Follow checklists and care logs to ensure consistency in animal care. Animals You May Work With Applicants must be comfortable working around exotic and domestic animals, including but not limited to: Capybara Coatimundi Raccoons Skunks Goats Donkeys Tortoises Wallaby Lemur Opossums Ducks Chickens Armadillos Snakes Dogs Cats Requirements Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving trucks or transport vehicles. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Comfortable with physically demanding tasks and handling animals of various sizes and temperaments. Able to follow detailed instructions and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills for internal updates (no public speaking or guest interaction required). Experience with animals or farm work is a plus but not required—willingness to learn is essential.
