Kennel Technician Sumter Humane Society, Inc. 108 Industrial Boulevard, Americus, GA 31719 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care while providing a clean, safe, and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess skills in dog handling and customer service. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working with various breeds and sizes of dogs, as well as other animals. Duties Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs. Maintain cleanliness in kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Assist with dog training sessions as needed to promote good behavior. Interact with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns. Assist in administering medications as directed by veterinary staff. Perform heavy lifting when necessary, including moving animals or supplies. Support the overall operations of the kennel by collaborating with team members. Experience Previous experience in dog handling or animal care is preferred but not required. Familiarity with dog training techniques is a plus. Experience in customer service roles will be beneficial for interacting with pet owners. Background in veterinary assistance or as a veterinary technician is advantageous. Knowledge of pet grooming practices is desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting and engage in physical activity throughout the workday is essential.
