REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Extensive experience training in avariety of settings within all levels of an organization.

  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and questioning skills, withan ability to create a positive learning environment, conveyobjectives clearly, encourage and motivate trainees, and ensurelearning outcomes.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles andinstructional design.
  • Able to skillfully manage the learningenvironment, evaluate participant competency levels or varyinglevels of knowledge and skill and adjust delivery to ensure needsof classroom are met and course objectives are achieved.
  • Experience with creating and managing a training schedule,preparing training materials and coordinating location, room, andequipment logistics prior to each training session.
  • Experiencemonitoring enrollment, tracking attendance, administering end ofclass assessments and reporting on participant satisfaction, andlearning outcomes.
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating trainingmaterials and sessions and providing constructive feedback toimprove the quality and effectiveness of learning outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) with the abilityto interact effectively with all levels.
  • Experience deliveringtraining using various methodologies (classroom, one-on-one, smalland large groups, virtual/Zoom).
  • Demonstrated experience witheLearning tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Snagit, Storyline.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency using computer-based andcollaboration tools including Office365 (Word, Excel, Power Point,Visio, Outlook), MS Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Travel todifferent state agencies, within the Commonwealth, may be needed.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in providing training for users undergoing significantbusiness process change because of an IT system upgrade orreplacement project.
  • Demonstrated experience with multimedia andinstructional design tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, and Snagit.
  • Experience with project-related tools such as SharePoint, Jira,and Confluence

JOB DESCRIPTION

The BEST ProgramTrainer(s) will participate in the comprehensive training plans toimplement the replacement of the Commonwealth’s current financialsystem. The new cloud-based financial solution includes CoreFinancials, Expenses, Grants Management, Project Management, andProject Billing. The goal of the training plan is to prepare usersof the new financial solution, in over 150 Commonwealth agencies,to effectively use the solution and understand the business processchanges required for successful adoption. Trainers will report tothe BEST Training Lead. Working under the direction of the BESTTraining Lead, the Trainer will be responsible for:

  • Developingand reviewing training materials.
  • Developing and revising jobaids and resource documents.
  • Planning of training sessions.
  • Coordinating training logistics including location, rooms, andequipment.
  • Tracking and reporting training attendance andoutcomes.
  • Training individuals (one-on-one, and in small andlarge groups).
  • Participating in software testing.

The Trainermust be a skilled facilitator, able to communicate clearly andconcisely with diverse audiences, in both oral and writtencontexts, and should be comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

Specific Duties Trainers will have a solid understanding of adultlearning principles with the ability to apply them in a trainingsetting, strong presentation and facilitation skills,well-developed communication skills both oral and written, superborganizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability toidentify inefficiencies and recommend training solutions to improvelearning outcomes. Working under the direction of the BEST TrainingLead, the Trainer will:

  • Apply a structured methodology to design,develop, review, and deliver course materials, job aids andperformance support tools.
  • Ensure training content is accurateand complete by reviewing and updating for Commonwealth-specificneeds training materials prepared by the SI and product vendorsincluding participating in course test activities using testscripts or instructions.
  • Collaborate with program team members,functional subject matter experts (SMEs), agency employees andstakeholders, SI and product vendors, to execute the Training Plan.
  • Partner with members of the Office of the Comptrollerstakeholders (Learning & Development, Human Resources,Communication) to facilitate the review and revision of existingtraining materials and resources.
  • Assist the BEST Training Leadwith coordination and status reporting of training activities andprovide regular, timely updates as required.
  • Work with agencytrainers to prepare them for participation in the training program.
  • Plan training sessions, prepare training materials and coordinatelocation, room, and equipment logistics prior to each trainingsession.
  • Monitor enrollment, track attendance and report onlearning outcomes.
  • Conduct demonstrations, hands-on, classroom,on-line, or auditorium type of training as appropriate.
  • Developvideos including instructional tutorials, presentations, andstep-by-step actions in the new financial solution.
  • Work withBEST Program Quality Assurance and Test Lead to ensureaccessibility of all training materials.
  • Ensure that tasks andoutputs are completed in a timely manner, of the highest quality,and are tailored to the unique needs of the project’s stakeholders.
