Job Opportunity:

Part-Time Animal Caregiver at Johnston Animal Hospital Johnston Animal Hospital in Smithfield is excited to announce a Part-Time Animal Caregiver position! No prior experience with animals? No problem – we’re happy to train the right candidate! We’re seeking a reliable, compassionate individual who can multitask and provide exceptional care for our animal patients. Bilingual skills are a plus. As an AAHA-accredited facility, we emphasize preventive health care and client education.

Key Responsibilities:

Feeding & Watering:

Provide food and water to animals according to their schedules and specific instructions.

Cleaning:

Maintain cleanliness of animal living areas and equipment.

Bathing:

Ensure animals are bathed as needed to maintain proper hygiene.

Enrichment:

Offer animals regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Monitoring:

Observe animals for signs of illness or injury.

Recording:

Maintain accurate records of diets, behaviors, and physical conditions.

Client Interaction:

Address client inquiries about their pets.

Admissions & Discharges:

Assist with the daily admission and discharge process of animals.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen frequently. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and manage dogs weighing up to 150 pounds.

Schedule:

Work days will vary Monday through Friday. 25-30 hours per weeks Would be expected to work the 1st, 3rd, & 4th weekend monthly Required every weekend monthly, with a one 2 hour morning shift (6:30 am – 8:30 am) Saturday and Sunday and a one 2 hour afternoon shift (5:00 pm – 7:00 pm) Saturday and Sunday. Holiday shifts required. Flexibility in hours Monday through Friday is essential.
