Farm Groundskepper and Animal Care Educational Farm at Joppa Hill 174 Joppa Hill Road, Bedford, NH 03110

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, detail oriented and dedicated person to perform diversified duties on the farm to improve, repair, protect, and maintain farm property, facilities and equipment. The Groundskeeper/Farmhand is responsible for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our visitors which would include landscaping, repairs, general maintenance and animal paddock maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Landscaping/Property Management:

Maintain the property’s landscaping and gardens; mowing, grounds maintenance, trash removal, and other farm related property maintenance.

Small Repairs:

Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on farm structures, equipment, and facilities, including shelters, fencing, gates, tractor, gator and tools.

General Maintenance:

Assist with general maintenance tasks, such as painting, cleaning, and organizing farm areas outside and inside the barn.

Animal Paddock/Stall Care:

Maintain animal paddocks by cleaning out manure, old hay and bedding; maintaining pastures and fencing; assist with animal care; weekend coverage as needed.

High Tunnel and Gardens:

Assist in High Tunnel, community gardens, and raised bed maintenance, upkeep and mowing.

Safety:

Adhere to safety protocols, and report any safety concerns. Promote the

Share information about Joppa Hill Educational Farm’s mission and activities with visitors and community members as appropriate. Work Environment Work in outdoors under all weather conditions Move over uneven terrain Move up and down a ladder up to 8 feet. Moving while carrying items that weigh up to 75 lbs Work with and around large farm animals Operate tools and equipment using safety precautions

Qualifications:

Experience with farm animals, farm machinery and general farm practices Experience in landscaping or grounds upkeep Experience working on a farm or in a agricultural business preferred Willingness to learn and perform various maintenance tasks Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physically able to perform tasks related to farm maintenance; ability to lift at least 75 lbs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Reliable and punctual Must be 21+ years of age
