Experience in R+ training a plus, we are looking for someone who is able to provide Walk and Train services and bring value to our team. Duties Walk dogs individually, focusing on positive behavior expectations Correct inappropriate behaviors using R+ training methods Ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs at all times Monitor dogs for any signs of distress, illness, or unusual behavior and report any concerns to the pet owner Submit weekly reviews to record training progress Commit to reliable service Skills Minimum 2 years experience of dog handling is required Dog Training/Behavior education or background is ideal Knowledge of basic pet first aid is a plus Ability to handle various temperaments, sizes and energy levels of dogs Strong communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners Physically able to walk for extended periods and handle dogs of different sizes and skill level Knowledge and ability to address basic behavior modification during walks This position requires team member to be available to cover between 8:30am and 6:30pm Monday-Friday. Staff will start off with paid training, progressing into a solo route that will expand as time goes on. The bulk of services provided will be Walk and Train sessions, where you will work one on one with the dog to correct unwanted behaviors and reactivities, and/or establish appropriate outdoor leash expectations. Some examples of skills that may be taught include: Basic skills such as heel, sit, leave it, watch me Loose Leash walking Redirecting reactivities to other dogs, cars, bikes, etc Introduction to walking City Dog training- Introduction or reintroduction to the city experience You’ll start training 3 days per week working up to a regular route. Length of training period depends on existing skill level. After training most new hires average between 10 and 25 hours per week to start. Potential to increase hours depends on skill level and availability.
Requirements:
Consistent availability Monday – Friday 8:30am-6:30pm Legally able to work in the United States English Speaking Able to come to work as scheduled, reliably Working knowledge of city transit At least 2 years experience handling dogs on a regular basis Please be aware that the position requires the applicant to work outside in various weather conditions. Preference will be given to applicants with a solid background or education in Dog Training and Animal Behavior. References will be requested.
