Animal Care Technician I Position Available In Westchester, New York

Job Description:

The VelociGene group is looking for an Animal Care Technician tojoin their large team. Under direct supervision, this employee willassist with routine husbandry care and maintenance of animals,including but not limited to feeding, watering, cage changing, andhealth checking of animals in the vivarium as well as maintenanceof the facility. This position will be required to safely andknowledgably float between all Regeneron vivarium spaces on aflexible, as needed basis and often time with little to no advancednotice. In this role, a typical day might include the following:

Apply technical knowledge to perform daily observations to checkanimals health status; report changes in environment and/or animalsEnvironmental monitoring with associated documentation Changing andcleaning cages, equipment, water bottles, and food Unpacking andhousing animals upon arrival Janitorial maintenance of facilityrooms and stocking of supplies Responsible for preventativemaintenance of animal facility equipment and supplies Preformsmonthly sanitation of equipment and the facility Maintains accuraterecords of animals, supplies, and equipment; restocking supplies asneeded Demonstrate direct knowledge of the Vivarium OperationsTraffic Pattern, strictly adhere to the traffic pattern and be ableto apply forward planning in order to meet pre-planned assignmentobligations. You are comfortableasking questions and providing feedback. To be considered for thisrole, you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent technicalcertificate. Pursuit of Purina and/or AALAS certification at theALAT level is desired. (required after first year of employment) Aminimum of one year experience in animal care is helpful for thisposition. This position will require the individual to pass aphysical before beginning employment.

Work Environment:

Thisposition requires employees to work closely with animals. Somenoises may be associated with this position. The ability to lift 30pounds required.
