Only accomplished dog trainers will be considered. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our team in Wellington. The successful candidate will have a strong background in dog training techniques and a love for working with animals. This role involves ensuring that pets are well-behaved and socialized. The Dog Trainer will also provide guidance on proper care and handling of dogs, fostering a positive relationship between the dogs and their family. Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with your experience. Responsibilities Develop and implement identified training programs to German Shepherd dogs and to other breeds. Educate pet owners on effective training methods and proper care techniques. Monitor the progress of dogs in training, adjusting methods as necessary. Provide guidance on behavior modification techniques for dogs with specific challenges. Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and clients. Collaborate with veterinary professionals to address any health or behavioral issues. Offer customer service support to pet owners, answering questions and providing resources. Skills Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners. Experience in dog training, including knowledge of various training methods. Familiarity with animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during training sessions. Background in veterinary assistance or as a veterinary technician is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or equipment. Experience in pet grooming is a plus, enhancing overall pet care knowledge. Knowledge of kennel operations can be beneficial for understanding dog behavior in different environments.
