As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2025, we are expanding our team to help save more lives, increase adoptions, and create a healthier, happier environment for every dog and cat in our care. Position Overview We’re looking for a dependable, compassionate Kennel Technician to join our Dog Program team . This full-time, hands-on role is essential to the daily care, cleanliness, and enrichment of the animals in our shelter. You’ll be part of a passionate team working to give every pet a second chance, and you’ll help maintain the highest standards in animal care and shelter operations. Key Responsibilities Provide daily care for dogs including feeding, watering, and enrichment Clean, sanitize, and maintain kennels, play yards, and work areas to ensure a safe, healthy environment Assist with intake exams, behavioral assessments, and safe animal handling Administer basic medications as instructed by veterinary or shelter leadership Observe animals and report signs of illness, injury, or behavioral issues Support adopters during meet-and-greet sessions and assist with adoption processes Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility including common areas, laundry, and waste management Work collaboratively with other kennel staff, volunteers, and leadership to ensure top-quality care Participate in the enrichment and training of shelter dogs using positive reinforcement techniques Required Qualifications Must be 18 years or older High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, perform physical work (bending, stooping, standing, walking) Willingness to work weekends and holidays as scheduled Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Strong time management and communication skills Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented mindset Preferred Qualifications Experience working or volunteering in a shelter, kennel, or veterinary environment Familiarity with animal handling, basic animal health, and behavior Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus [not required] Working Hours & Pay Full-time (up to 40 hours/week); part-time opportunities may be available Standard schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday through Saturday (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs Competitive hourly rate, based on experience ($16-$18/hour) Paid every Friday Full-time team members are eligible for: Paid Time Off Health and Dental Benefits
