Job Description
Cosmetology Instructor 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Wadley, AL JOB The Technical Education (TE) Instructor will be responsible for the day-to-day activities in their respective departments. Plans and delivers instruction as assigned; instructional contact hours range between 24 and 30 hours per week. Special functions may include recommending class scheduling, providing information for budget planning, counseling, student recruitment, registration, working with student organizations, appropriate record keeping, and teaching all assigned classes. TE faculty participates in professional development activities; represents the institution and/or career technical program through involvement in community affairs, public service activities, business and industry advisory committees, and performs other professionally appropriate duties as requested by the President, Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development, Technical Education Director, or Technical Division Department Chair.
Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience according to the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule; D1 Salary range: $46,590 – $94,363 for nine-month employment; summer employment may be available dependent on enrollment: $14,394 – $29,194.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Develops and maintains course syllabi, course competencies, assessments and outlines.
Selects instructional aides and prepares classroom presentations.
Organizes a program of practical and technical (hands on) instruction, including demonstrations of technical and soft skills required in trade, and lectures on theory, techniques, and terminology.
Plans and supervises work of students, individually or in small groups, in all areas of instruction including classroom, lab area and/or cooperative education learning environment.
Develops and administers appropriate assessment procedures for determining student achievement. Implements a plan of instruction that will facilitate a knowledge base for students to be capable of achieving third party industry recognized credentials.
Maintains accurate records and provides reports as directed by the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development, or their designee.
Sponsors Career Technical Student Organizations and participates in campus activities.
Works with the Technical Division Department Chair, program advisory committee and other faculty to develop, evaluate, and review curriculum to ensure maximum student competency.
Develops operating budget regarding supplies, materials, travel, etc. to submit to the Technical Division Department Chair.
Assists in implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures.
Advises students academically.
Provides out-of-class assistance to students when necessary.
Files mid-term deficiencies with Admissions Office if needed.
Files course syllabi with Department Chair prior to the beginning of the term.
Attends faculty, divisional and other required committee meetings.
Serves on divisional and institutional committees as assigned.
Maintains appropriate work hours.
Pursues professional improvement by participating in programs, workshops, and classes to maintain credentials and improve competencies.
Promotes the Technical program and recruits new students.
Participates in follow-up activities with students in order to obtain appropriate placement information.
Assists in job placement for graduates/completers.
Serves as advisor for all students enrolled in the occupational program.
Performs other professional duties as assigned by the President or Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development, Technical Education Director or Technical Division Department Chair.
