JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to join our Cosmetology Department as a Clinical Facilitator. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of aspiring cosmetologists by providing hands-on instruction, and evaluation of technical knowledge and trade skills. As an integral part of our team, the Clinical Facilitator will work with a diverse student body and client base, fostering a culture of inclusion and cultural competence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction, Evaluation, and Supervision:
Oversee and supervise students in classroom and salon settings, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Provide guidance and support in the application of cosmetology skills during practical sessions. Meet students on time and be properly prepared, notify the Department Chair and Dean when ill or unable to meet such classes, and fill out such state and College forms as required to cover the absence(s). Provide laboratory, and salon instruction according to the required curriculum. Follow current lab and salon outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program. Monitor student attendance in lab and the salon and document as required by the administration. Comply, monitor, and maintain all safety procedures and best practices as required in the industry. Perform duties required to maintain a viable program.
Professionalism:
Maintain professional conduct and behavior in the classroom, lab, and salon and, at all times, when he/she is professionally involved with students. Display an appropriate and sound attitude toward students, colleagues, supervisors, and the College community at large. As a responsible member of the Indian River State College faculty, demonstrate a professional attitude at all times as well as always maintaining a high ethical and moral behavior. Adhere to and keep abreast of college policies and procedures.

Work collaboratively with clients and students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds. Foster an inclusive and respectful atmosphere that celebrates diversity within the cosmetology community.
Adaptability:
Follow specific schedules, locations, and tasks as assigned by the Department Chair. Be flexible and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the program and salon operation. Perform any other duties associated with a successful cosmetology program and salon operation as assigned. Complete all other duties as assigned by the Dean of Workforce Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Florida cosmetologist and/or barbering licensure Associate Degree or higher preferred. High school diploma or GED. Graduation from a regionally-accredited cosmetology training institution. Minimum of two years of verifiable, proven work experience in a commercial salon. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of hair styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, facial make-up, massage, skin, hair, and scalp disorders. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional strategies for cosmetology and related programs. Strong theoretical and practical expertise in various aspects of cosmetology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements for this position include: Ability to regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds of supplies and/or equipment needed for student training. Manual dexterity and balance required for demonstrating applications. Demonstration of appropriate skills as required by curriculum and standards. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach with hands and arms, and stoop. Ability to maintain and/or troubleshoot all lab equipment in the lab. Ability to bend down and get on knees while performing different techniques. Ability to present verbal lectures/demonstrations. Vision abilities sufficient to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Excellent Hand-Eye coordination skills required to demonstrate appropriate skills required of the program. Ability to travel to and pick up miscellaneous supplies from local vendors for materials for student training and make good purchasing decisions or substitutions. Physically demonstrate new and unique methods and materials. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
