Jul 24, 2025 Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Barber Instructor – PT position in the Business and Public Service Technologies (BPST) Division. This position is part-time and located on Atlanta Tech’s Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Job Description:
Develop and implement detailed lesson plans and curricula for barbering courses Instruct students on various barbering techniques, including haircutting, styling, and shaving Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of barbering tools and equipment Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback Prepare students for state licensure exams and ensure compliance with state requirements Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment Coordinate and supervise hands-on training sessions and practical exams Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in the barbering industry Evaluate and grade students’ performance and practical skills Assist in the development and revision of training materials Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere Provide mentorship and career guidance to students
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Barber License Minimum of 3-5 years of professional barbering experience Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning Previous experience as a barbering instructor or in a similar teaching role Experience with digital learning tools and online education platforms Preferred Qualifications In addition to Minimum Qualifications, a Barber Instructor License with experience is preferred. Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time-management skills Proficiency in the use of barbering tools and equipment Basic computer skills for administrative tasks and record-keeping Advanced knowledge of current barbering techniques and trends Strong public speaking and presentation skills Physical Demands Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time; and may occasionally lift up to 25lbs. Exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory setting. A full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
