Non-Exempt Summary:

As a Bather/Brusher, you will play a crucial role in preparing dogs for grooming procedures and ensuring they look and feel their best before leaving our salon by performing the following duties. Responsible for having a genuine love for dogs, possess excellent bathing and brushing techniques, and exhibit outstanding attention to detail. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Bathes and shampoos dogs of various breeds and sizes, ensuring thorough cleansing of the coat, skin, and ears using appropriate grooming products and techniques.

  • 2. Gently and safely handle dogs during bathing and drying procedures, minimizing stress and ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • 3. Brushes and detangles dogs’ coats using appropriate grooming tools and techniques, removing mats, loose fur, and debris to improve overall appearance and promote healthy skin and coat.
  • 4. Cleans and maintains grooming equipment, including bathing tubs, brushes, combs, and dryers, to ensure optimal performance and hygiene standards.
  • 5. Assists groomers with restraining dogs and preparing them for grooming procedures, including brushing out mats, trimming excess fur, and prepping the coat for styling.
  • 6. Monitor dogs for signs of discomfort, injury, or skin conditions during bathing and brushing sessions, and report any concerns to the groomer or salon manager.
  • 7. Maintains a clean and organized grooming area, including but not limited to, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • 8. Follows salon protocols and safety guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, or the spread of infectious diseases among dogs and staff members.
Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. •

Essential Function Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
  • Previous experience working with dogs in a grooming salon, veterinary clinic, pet boarding facility, or similar environment is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic dog grooming techniques, including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming, is advantageous.
  • Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently, with patience, kindness, and compassion.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to upholding grooming standards and quality of service.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with groomers, bathers, and other staff members.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and mornings/evenings as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new grooming techniques, tools, and industry trends.
