Job Summary:
The Museum Attendant is responsible for delivering highly satisfied customer experience by engaging and interacting with all customers and maintaining a clean and organized museum environment. The Museum Attendant follows all established (and new) company standards. The Museum Attendant must always remain flexible with work hours, changes to operations, and always work with peers and leadership to achieve goals. The Museum Attendant may be cross trained in multiple areas across the store and/or company based on operational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Role Model for established customer experience standards with all internal and external customers. Embraces a positive attitude at all times, especially during high business volumes or stressful situations and displays honesty, integrity, and respect on a routine basis. Takes initiative to complete assignments such as merchandise recovery, merchandise receiving/counting/pricing, stocking shelves, displaying merchandise as well as cleaning and organizing duties. Ability to perform minor repairs on model train equipment (inside the museum) and effectively operate model train equipment in order to maintain customer satisfaction. Ability to provide updated and accurate information pertaining to items on display and the platform. Other duties assigned by Retail Leadership and GSMR Senior Management.
Work Environment:
The Museum Attendant will generally work inside the museum which is located inside the GSMR Retail Store. Depending on the time of year, business demands, or stock needs the attendant may also work in the following areas: depot deck, warehouse, or onboard the train. The attendant is subject to all weather climate and should be prepared to work in all locations during daily operations.
Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:
At least one (1) year customer service experience. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with coworkers and customers. Comfortable with speaking and interacting with the public. Ability to work a flexible schedule with night, weekend, and holiday hours. Ability to lift 25lbs. Willingness to learn about model railroading to interact with customers about the museum collection. Ability to operate a cash register and/or Square device.
