This role is essential in providing respectful and dignified cremation services to families during their time of loss. The Crematory Operator will be responsible for operating the crematory, preparing the deceased for cremation, maintaining the crematory equipment and ensuring that all health and safety regulations are followed. Responsibilities Operate and maintain cremation equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform all aspects of the cremation process in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Load and unload cremation containers onto and off of the cremation unit. Monitor the cremation process to ensure proper temperature and time are maintained. Record data from each cremation into the database. Remove cremated remains from cremation chamber, process and place in cremation container. Clean and maintain the cremation equipment on a regular basis. Keep the crematory area clean and orderly at all times. Answer questions and provide support to families during the cremation process. Perform administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining records. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience Previous experience in a similar role or within the funeral service industry is preferred but not required. Familiarity with industrial equipment operation is essential; mechanical knowledge will be beneficial for troubleshooting. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manage physical demands associated with the position. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and empathy when interacting with families during difficult times. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • A background in funeral directing is a plus, enhancing understanding of client needs and expectations.
