Laundry Attendant Job Overview:
Laundry Attendants are responsible for processing sorted linen, distributing clean linen and keeping a clean and organized work area. Additionally, Laundry Attendants contribute to the overall safety and security of the hotel by reporting damage, following safety rules, and assisting in emergency situations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Receive and sort soiled linen into appropriate containers. Process sorted linen utilizing the washers, dryers, sheet spreaders, ironers, and feeder/folder delivering a finished product that is inspected and meets quality standards. Maintain assigned work area in a clean and safe condition. Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed, damaged linens, to ensure laundry operation is running at maximum efficiency level.
Qualifications:
Must be able to manage time according to laundry machine cycles to complete job tasks. Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment. Effectively communicate with co-workers who may not speak the same language. Good eye for detail. No Supervisory responsibilities required for this job.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a hotel environment; the majority of the work is performed in the laundry area of the hotel. Requires the use of laundry equipment and machines, laundry and cleaning chemicals, and manual labor. Constant exposure to noise from commercial laundry equipment. Exposure to warmer temperatures created by laundry equipment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant physical movement is involved in performing the duties and tasks of a Laundry Attendant. Frequently position self to lift and transport linen to machines and guest room floors. Will transport up to 300 lbs., will position up to 50 lbs. and will move up to 30 lbs. Constant exposure to noise from commercial laundry equipment.
Mental Demands:
The mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have mental alertness and be able to operate laundry equipment and utilize the machine programs that are required to wash and dry the linens. Ability to determine if the linen meets the cleanliness requirement of the hotel.
