Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the EmergencyRoom Attendant performs various duties to assist in the care ofpatients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
These duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining EKG’s,venipuncture, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding,measuring vital signs and blood glucose, and transporting.
KeyResponsibilities / Essential Functions

- Perform basic patientcare with minimal supervision and within established policies onall age groups2.
- Accurately check and record vital signs,reports any abnormalities to licensed staff3.
- Performsvenipuncture and collects other specimens per policy4.
- Promptlyanswer call lights and provide necessary assistance in a timelymanner5.
- Report patient changes, problems, complaints orrequests to appropriate personnel6.
- Assist in the maintenanceof equipment and stocking of supplies7.
- Aware of departmentalthroughput goals and actively participates in meeting these goals8
- Accurately follows direction of licensed staff with minimalguidance needed
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, ExperienceRequiredEducation/Licensure:
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Experience:
No previous experience required, but preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
BLS required before the conclusion ofthe orientation period. Must have excellent communication skillswith the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiringprioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
