Job Description

Assist the Laundry Manager in leading the day-to-day laundry and valet operations of Sea Island Resort, with specific responsibility for the needs of Cloister and Lodge housekeeping, uniforms, food and beverage outlets, Sea Island Spa, Cottage Rentals and the Sea Island Beach Club.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Two (2) years proven leadership and management experience operating a high-volume laundry; either in a hospitality or institutional laundry operation, preferably a minimum of 3M pound output facility
  • Experience contracting and managing outside service contracts (for example hospital contracts) in unison with handling the requirements of a Five Star resort preferred
  • A sound understanding of the linen needs of a Five Star resort operation
  • Experience controlling costs and managing budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of retail valet processes
  • Expertise in service delivery techniques
  • Technical expertise in various laundry machinery and operational procedures
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Must have a favorable driving history
  • Company policy requires that one must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review
  • Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, and Outlook

Dress Code Policy Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
  • Creation and maintenance of Five Star/five diamond service standards, and responsibility for service delivery consistent with these standards
  • Direct responsibility of linen/laundry production, along with valet delivery for the Cloister, Lodge, residential rental homes, numerous food and beverage outlets, including laundry needs for Sea Island members and guests, as well as all linen need of the Sea Island Spa and the Sea Island Beach Club
  • Maintain accurate par levels for each area of responsibility
  • Interview, hire and train staff in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Oversee scheduling and approval of employee time and attendance
  • Conduct performance reviews for laundry staff
  • Guide, coach, counsel, develop, and inspire direct reports in a way to promote teamwork, communication and maximum productivity
  • Support Service Quality training efforts to drive individual and collective staff development
  • Development of operating and capital budgets and financial plans, continually monitoring performance in relationship to financial goals
  • Manage the P&L statements for the Laundry department and submit justifications for variances from budgets
  • Responsible for working with outside vendors to achieve the best results to reach overall goals of Sea Island as pertaining to cost and quality control
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one’s ability
  • If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
  • If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 50 lbs intermittently throughout a shift
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
  • Maintain compliance with Company Resort Professional Image Policy
