Full Job Description Purpose:

To implement laundry procedures to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet resident’s’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Minimum Eligibility Requirements High School Diploma One (1) or more years working in a commercial laundry setting Ability to read and write English Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff Must have compassion for and desire to work with elderly Must meet all state health requirements Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities under essential job functions Essential Functions Proper use and care for laundry equipment Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately Use laundry supplies properly Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor Distribute clothing to residents’ rooms in accordance with the theft loss program Follow infection control procedures through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner Follow laundry procedures in accordance with facility protocol Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures The job description provides a framework for the job, other duties may be assigned as necessary Working Conditions Ability to work schedule and communicate availability according to policy Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices) Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
