SUPERVISOR
Housekeeping/Laundry Services Supervisor PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to implement laundry procedures to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents needs in compliance with Federal, State and local requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate preferred. Good physical health. Sense of responsibility. Experience in washing or laundry activities and use of laundry supplies preferred. Ability to follow directions and understand the importance of cleanliness and sanitation. Ability to cooperate with other employees.

WORKING HOURS

7.5 hours per day unless part-time status. Pay period based on 75 hours in a 14-day period.

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO

Housekeeping Laundry Services Supervisor or Environmental Services Supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Well-lighted, well-ventilated work area. Stands, bends, stoops, lifts heavy, wet wash, walks short distances during work day. Pushes carts. Exposed to heat and steam. May handle contaminated articles.

RESPONSIBILITY

Quality of work performed. Keeping up with work flow so that floors are adequately supplied with linen. Maintaining institution standards for cleanliness of linens used in resident care by complying with established procedures for laundry operation. Care and use of supplies and equipment. Cleanliness of work area. Cooperation with other employees.

DUTIES:

Collects and sorts soiled linens. Operates washers and driers using established formulas and following instructions for operation of machines. Folds and counts dry linens to be put on shelves. Puts linens on carts and distributes to departments according to daily needs. Cleans and maintains washing and drying equipment. Informs supervisor when laundry supplies and equipment are low. Notifies Administration immediately of necessary maintenance of machine. If asked to launder residents clothes, they are washed separate from bed linens and Laundry Aide takes special care in collecting resident clothing from rooms and returning such to appropriate areas. Environmental Services Laundry Aide must check to be sure residents name is marked in personal clothing. Laundry markers are available for such identification as needed.
