COMPENSATION
$22.00 per hour (Instructor) & $17.00 per hour (Admin)
POSITION SUMMARY
: The Nail Instructor teaches the theory and practice of nail care courses to prepare students for the Florida State certification examination. The Nail Instructor may also teach practicing certified estheticians who wish to fine-tune their skills through continuing education classes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(includes but may not be limited to the following): Present information through lecture in an upbeat informative nature, teaching to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Must possess knowledge and understanding of Anatomy and Physiology of the nail. Must possess knowledge and skills to properly file nails. Ability to teach protocol for performing manicure and pedicure services. Ability to teach acrylics. Assess and accommodate client needs inquiring about their physical wellbeing in order to perform appropriate service. Educate and sell products to guests and staff in a knowledgeable, professional, and thorough manner. Maintain nail treatment inventory and supplies. Maintain availability and dedication to Elise Esthetics Institute, being available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Be knowledgeable and informed regarding all Esthetic and general spa and resort programs and services. Participate in and contribute to staff meetings, training, product knowledge classes, and team efforts. Abide by all Florida State Board of Esthetics guidelines. Comply with all Elise Esthetics Institute safety and health policies and procedures. Oversee and maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the treatment areas and spa facilities. Attend monthly meetings as directed by the Director. Stay current on all department information and become well-versed and trained in its application. Ensure the esthetics staff provides appropriate and consistent levels of client service and hospitality. Fill in for other estheticians as needed. Maintain a positive, client service-oriented attitude and a sense of humor. Prepare, administer, and grade examinations for the students enrolled in the course you are teaching. Organize priorities and follow through with deadlines. Accurately complete assigned tasks and job duties. Keep management informed about significant actions or problems. Clearly communicate ideas or the essence of a problem or concern. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the school’s mission statement and objectives and strive to attain them at all times. Teach and follow the school’s curriculum using all teaching methods introduced during employment and follow them consistently. Gain a working knowledge of the school’s satisfactory academic progress policy, standards of conduct, practical course requirements, grading policies and criteria, and state regulations within 30 days of employment. Arrive on time daily and maintain regular attendance. Do not leave scheduled classes or duties to take or make personal calls. Organize and prepare for each class preparation. Organize necessary handouts, teaching aids, and equipment prior to starting the class. Always begin class on time as scheduled, without exception. Must attend student graduation ceremony at completion of term. Oversee or contribute to special projects as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Associate degree or equivalent, required. Florida Specialist License (must have had for minimum of one year), required. Extensive knowledge and experience in proper hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices required for successful esthetics practice.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency with computers, telephone lines, and other related office equipment. Proficient typing skills. Ability to teach nail theory with a well-designed curriculum as well as successfully demonstrate techniques on live models and volunteers. Ability to appropriately assess students’ progress and take the necessary steps to ensure their complete and effective education. Professional attitude and appearance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organization and skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks. Strong customer service outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light to moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous activities to include: Standing and/or sitting for an extended period of time. Walking, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead. Lifting up to 25 lbs. or more. Working in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor setting with adequate ventilation. Using manual dexterity sufficient to handle/reach items and work with hands and fingers. Using close/distant/peripheral and depth perception.
