We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Seamstress / Workroom Supervisor to lead our team of fabrication specialists with expertise and pride. Position Overview Are you an experienced seamstress with an eye for detail and a passion for craftsmanship? Do you enjoy leading a team and taking pride in beautiful, custom-made window treatments? We’re looking for a Lead Seamstress / Workroom Supervisor to join our growing drapery and window treatment company!
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily activities within the workroom, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
- Construct custom draperies, Roman shades, valances, and soft furnishings to specification
- Mentor and train seamstresses, fostering skill development and maintaining consistency in production quality
- Create/Review work orders, assign tasks, and manage production timelines
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished products to ensure top-tier finishes and compliance with quality standards
- Maintain equipment and ensure it is in working order
- Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and implement improvements as necessary.
- Manage inventory of fabrics, linings, trims, and supplies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workroom environment
- Collaborate with design and operations teams to address and resolve production issues, enhancing overall workflow efficiency
- Manage employee schedules, including vacation planning and coverage arrangements, to ensure uninterrupted production
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, inventory levels, and maintenance activities
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in sewing, preferably within custom home décor, demonstrating proficiency in creating draperies, Roman shades, valances, and similar items.
- Proficiency in industrial sewing machines and finishing techniques.
- Familiarity with various window treatment hardware systems, including motorized solutions, to meet diverse client needs.
- Ability to read and interpret measurements and workroom specifications.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to train and mentor seamstresses to maintain quality and consistency (preferred).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, fostering a cooperative work environment.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage production timelines and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with workroom software or digital order tracking systems to streamline operations and maintain accurate records.
- Eagerness to learn new sewing techniques and styles, staying updated with industry trends and innovations.
- Maintains a professional attitude, contributing positively to the workroom environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and operate machines for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and move fabric rolls or products weighing up to 30 lbs.
