Job Summary:
- The Seamstress is responsible for sewing, stitching, and assembling composite materials used in various products. This role involves working with specialized fabrics and materials to create components that meet precise specifications and quality standards. The Seamstress must have a keen eye for detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work with technical sewing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Sewing and Assembly:
- Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to sew, stitch, and assemble composite materials.
- Follow detailed patterns, templates, and technical drawings to create composite components.
- Perform hand stitching and other manual sewing tasks as required

Quality Control:
- Inspect materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and address any defects or inconsistencies in the materials or workmanship.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent contamination and ensure quality

Technical Skills:
- Use specialized techniques for sewing and assembling composite materials, such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass.
- Adjust machine settings and perform basic maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Understand and follow safety protocols related to handling and processing composite materials

Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities produced, materials used, and any issues encountered.
- Complete production reports and other required documentation in a timely manner

Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure production goals are met.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements and efficiency gains

Training and Development:
- Stay up-to-date with new sewing techniques, equipment, and materials used in composite manufacturing.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge

Qualifications:

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or certification in sewing, textiles, or a related field is preferred

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a seamstress or sewing machine operator, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with composite materials is a plus

Skills:
- Proficient in operating industrial sewing machines and other sewing equipment.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Essential Physical Requirement:
- Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perc ption and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required but it is not usual.
