12 Months Job Description We are seeking a skilled Upholstery Technician II with experience in the aerospace industry to join our team in Savannah, GA. Under minimal supervision, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing upholstery, and covering panels for aircraft interiors according to design and engineering specifications.
Position Purpose :
To provide skilled upholstery fabrication and installation for aircraft interiors.
Responsibilities Essential Duties :
Fabricate, cover, and install flat panels and curtains following design and engineering specifications. Work with materials such as fabric, vinyl, leather hides, composites, adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, and various hand and power tools. Cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads, and install panels. Fabricate various metal parts, fit panels and windows, and install cabin headliners and sidewalls. Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demands, track issues, and sign off on work.
Additional Duties :
Collaborate with lead technicians to develop and implement safety and process improvements through Lean Manufacturing techniques. Use the material tracking system, Corridor, for parts demands, tracking issues, and work sign-offs. Adhere to safety and housekeeping policies, including wearing personal protective equipment as required. Identify and address unsafe conditions to maintain a safe work environment. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, or hand tools in upholstery or carpet trades. Aerospace industry experience preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering documentation. Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations. Computer literacy. Physical ability to climb ladders, work in restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift. Other Requirements Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
