Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Furniture Maker to join our team. This role involves crafting high-quality, bespoke furniture pieces from scratch, including building frames and performing full upholstery work. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in both woodworking and upholstery techniques, capable of transforming design concepts into beautifully finished, functional pieces.
Key Responsibilities:
Construct furniture frames from raw materials (wood, metal, etc.) using traditional and modern joinery techniques. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or client specifications to create custom furniture. Perform all aspects of upholstery, including webbing, padding, sewing, and fabric application. Select appropriate materials based on design requirements and client preferences. Operate and maintain woodworking and upholstery tools and machinery safely and efficiently. Collaborate with designers, clients, and other team members to ensure high-quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. Conduct quality control checks to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic standards. Perform repairs and reupholstery as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in custom furniture making, with strong capabilities in both frame construction and upholstery. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and upholstery equipment. Strong understanding of furniture design principles, materials, and construction techniques. Ability to read and interpret detailed plans and technical drawings. High attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision. Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and finished pieces.
Preferred:
Formal training or certification in woodworking, upholstery, or furniture making. Portfolio of previous custom furniture work.
