Upholstery Pattern Maker/Designer 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Archdale, NC 27263 Overview We are seeking a creative and skilled Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design and a strong understanding of various materials and tools. This role involves collaborating with other team members to create innovative designs while ensuring functionality and quality. The Designer will play a crucial role in transforming concepts into tangible products, making it essential to have both artistic vision and technical expertise.

Shift:

1st, 6:30 AM – 3:45 AM M-Thurs, Fri. 6:30 AM – 12 PM Role and Responsibilities Core Responsibilities and Expectations The Pattern and Sewing Lead is responsible for ensuring consistency and high-quality output from the upholstery department by maintaining accuracy and uniformity in covers produced by the cutting and sewing teams. This role oversees all aspects of pattern design, cutting, and sewing to ensure a well-tailored final product. The Lead will establish and maintain processes that support continual improvement and drive consistency in both finish and appearance of upholstered products. The goal is to foster a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and positive outcomes, reducing the need to repeatedly start from scratch for each new COM (Customer’s Own Material). Primary Responsibilities Serve as the Lead Pattern Maker . Draw patterns on paper – transfer to final plastic patterns. Cut out patterns, catalog and track pattern numbers for future use. Approve all

patterns used in upholstered seating. Establish and maintain a documentation system for changes and pattern use by textile type. Develop standardized processes for cutters to identify patterns and layouts for each COM. Identify opportunities to improve consistency in the cutting process. Collaborate with sewers to refine and document sewing steps for each pattern. Ensure consistent sewing output across all sewers. Create try-on covers for the Upholstery Department to test, adjusting patterns and instructions as needed. Document all changes for future reference. Coordinate adjustments and process improvements with the Upholstery Lead. Communicate concerns or challenges to the Production Manager or VP of Operations. Requirements Fluent in spoken and written English. Strong understanding of cutting, sewing, and upholstery processes. Proficient in pattern design and layout. Organized and clear communicator. Capable of leading team members to meet process standards and continually improve. Onboarding Steps Align responsibilities between the Lead Upholsterer and Production Manager (personnel management vs. process management). Coordinate pattern training with external consultants or PBD leadership. Define clear responsibilities for each process area: Cutting Maintain cleanliness of the cutting area. Determine which COM to discard or keep. Catalog COM use and pattern adjustments. Provide instructions for labeling each cut piece. Decide when to stack vs. single-layer cut. Provide cutting instructions and pattern selection guidance. Set priorities (e.g., try-on vs. production). Sewing Set order priorities (try-on vs. production). Determine thread color, stitch size, and salvage size. Maintain a sewer’s manual for cataloging. Ensure cleanliness of the sewing area. Upholstery Collaborate regularly with the Upholstery Lead. Maintain constructive two-way feedback regarding patterns and process needs. Determine whether adjustments are required for patterns or the upholstery process itself. #EP1
