Our company is growing and we are in search of a new team member in the woodshop here at Oak City Customs.

A little bit about us:

We have a 28,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Zebulon NC specializing in wood and metal fabrication including heirloom quality furniture products incorporating a rustic and industrial modern style. We work for both commercial clients such as Architects, builders, and contractors, as well as homeowners. Our specialty is table and panel production including edge glued hardwood panels, butcher blocks, and solid slabs. We often use unique slabs of wood that we produce from local trees in many of our products. We have a saw mill here with capability to cut 63″ wide slabs and 2 de-humidification style kilns that can dry approx 11,000 board feet per month. Panel production is a popular service we offer to other wood shops in the area who may not have in house equipment to glue and flatten large pieces.

The Position:

This person would work in the woodshop as the primary person for all aspects of finishing wood products including finish sanding, edge detail, and applying finish stains and varnish. The candidate will primarily work in an automotive style spray booth. The right candidate will have experience mixing stains and varnish. This role will also be asked, as projects demand, to help the wood shop in executing work orders, helping construct projects and run machinery. This includes performing epoxy fills, running saws as well as stacking and moving materials. You would work under a woodshop manager to take orders through the manufacturing process to finished product. This is not a sales role directly but involves working with customers and transactions. Previous experience in wood working and manufacturing is a must but as is a high attention to detail, a strong work ethic and desire to learn. Accountability and responsibility are a must. Being able to show up early and stay late if necessary is a must. You will need to physically do work to ensure the jobs get done and our shop is not climate controlled. We currently have 25 employees here and have plans to grow this year. We are looking for someone who can get involved with us for the long term in a career oriented position.
