Veterinary Assistant/Technician Village Veterinary Clinic 15722 E Limestone Rd, Athens, AL 35613 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our furry patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws and urinalysis. Maintain accurate medical records for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper animal care and health practices. Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization when necessary. Ensure the cleanliness of the clinic, including grooming areas and examination rooms. Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinarian. Requirements Previous experience in animal care or veterinary settings is required Licensed Veterinary technician is preferred but will consider an assistant with a minimum of 2 years experience Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary terminology. Proficiency in dog handling techniques and experience required Candidates must be able to collect blood samples and place catheters Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine. Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
