Double Oak Mountain Animal Hospital is a privately owned small animal/exotic practice looking to add another skilled veterinary technician’s assistant to our team. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health in the support of Double Oak Mountain Animal Hospital to assure quality care for pets and promote greater efficiency through teamwork and dedication.

The ideal candidate has:
  • High motivation, and a positive, friendly personality
  • veterinary and/or kennel experience (1+ years preferred)
  • the ability to communicate kindly and effectively
  • strong sense of responsibility/accountability
  • strong organizational skills and ability to design/streamline workflow as it pertains to the workings of a veterinary hospital
  • patience, poise, and a passion for helping animals AND people Job duties of the veterinary technician’s assistant include but are not limited to:
  • Daily kennel duties including deep cleaning, bathing, caring for hospitalized patients.
  • Completion of daily checklists and weekly maintenance logs.
  • Animal restraint, basic veterinary assisting skills, basic laboratory duties like taking samples and running animal lab tests
  • Customer service including client education, answering basic animal care questions, helping with pharmacy duties, and assisting clients with scheduling and care questions over the telephone Must display strong customer service and communication skills.

The physical demands described here are presentative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and liste; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach the hands and arms. The employee is often required to lift and carry animals weighing fifty pounds or more; handle dogs weighing up to 150lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
