Animal Hospital at Lakewood Ranch is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our growing practice! This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in veterinary assisting or technology who is also comfortable providing exceptional client service at the front desk. Position Overview This hybrid role includes both clinical and client-facing responsibilities. Candidates should be cross-trained—or willing to be trained—in both areas. Veterinary Assistant:

Assist veterinarians in exam rooms and during surgical/dental procedures Restrain animals safely and compassionately for exams, diagnostics, and treatment Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients Prepare samples and perform basic in-house lab diagnostics (e.g. fecal, urinalysis, bloodwork) Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment, surgery, and kennel areas Assist in inventory management and restocking Provide client education on topics such as post-op care, parasite prevention, and nutrition As a

Receptionist:

Greet clients and patients with a warm, welcoming attitude Answer multi-line phone system and respond to inquiries with accuracy and professionalism Schedule appointments efficiently and with attention to detail Check in/out clients and process invoices/payments Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in our practice management system Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients about services, procedures, and follow-up care Help coordinate workflow between front and back-of-house teams to maintain a smooth and efficient schedule

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Required Skills & Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant or technician in a clinical setting Prior experience in client services or veterinary reception highly preferred Proficient in safe animal handling and restraint techniques Familiarity with veterinary terminology, basic diagnostics, medications, and common procedures Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfort using veterinary practice software and standard office equipment Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and compassion Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in record-keeping

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with practice management software (e.g. AVImark, Cornerstone, etc.) Cross-training in both front and back-of-house responsibilities Confidence educating clients and helping them understand treatment plans Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and daily patient flow

Physical Requirements:
