Position Summary This position provides nursing care to patients in the Large AnimalTeaching Hospital. Licensed Veterinary Technicians work to fulfillthe following within the course of caring for patients: takingvitals such as blood pressure, temperature, Collection of blood,urine by expression, cystocentesis or catheterization; collectionand preparation of tissue, cellular, or microbiological samples byskin scraping, impressions; routine laboratory test procedures;radiology including settings, positioning, processing, and safety;intravenous and arterial catheterization; administration andapplication of treatments, drugs, fluids, medications andimmunological agents by oral, parenteral and injectable routes;induction and maintenance of anesthesia; placement of intra-nasal,intra-gastric tubes; dental procedures; surgical assistance;resuscitative procedures; applications of splints and slings;application of appropriate wound dressings and external supportivecare in severe wound and burn cases.
