Kennel Assistant Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to our patients. If you have a passion for animals and enjoy working in a dynamic environment, we would love to hear from you.
Duties:
- Assist in the daily care of animals including feeding, watering, and exercising
- Clean and maintain kennels and other hospital areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
- Provide basic grooming such as bathing and brushing
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to the veterinary staff
- Assist with animal restraint when necessary
- Support veterinary technicians and assistants as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in animal care or related field preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures is a plus
- Ability to handle dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds safely and confidently
- Proficient in heavy lifting as some tasks may require moving large animals or supplies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment, reliable transportation
- Passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing excellent care
Hours:
- Set schedule of 4 weekdays and rotating weekends (35-40 hours per week)
- Weekend after-hours kennel duty included after training period with a fixed pay differential
