Veterianry Assistant Ellisville Veterinary Hospital (1) 210 Clarkson Road, Ellisville, MO 63011 Overview Veterinary Assistants help the technicians, doctors, and receptionists in all duties of the hospital. Veterinary Assistants provide for the constant cleanliness of the hospital, as well as all patient wards, cages, and runs. The Veterinary assistants are responsible for the daily care of our patients, including walking, feeding, and recording of animal weight, appetite, and other information as directed. Veterinary Assistants are required to assist the doctors and technicians with restraint and other responsibilities according to individual abilities and training. Essential Functions/Job Duties Assist in the care for boarding and hospitalized animals, including cage cleaning, exercising, feeding, observation for signs of illness, laundry, bathing procedures, and keeping animals clean, as directed by the technicians and doctors. Release animals to their owners as directed by the doctor or technician. Ensure that every animal released is clean, properly groomed, and with all the items they brought during their stay with us. Receive animals to be admitted for hospital care as directed by the doctor or technician. Ensure that each animal has proper identification, including name tags, cage cards, and medical record in the appropriate place. General maintenance of public and employee areas of hospital, general cleaning of walking areas, examination rooms, and essential spaces within the practice. We strive to maintain clean, odor-free, and attractive environment. Housekeeping and laundry duties for all areas. Maintain inventory and cleanliness of examination rooms for ultimate productivity and eciency Assist in the restrain patients for procedures performed by technicians or doctors. Maintaining a professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude when interacting with pet owners. Including but not limited to stocking of hospital supplies, filling out requisition forms as supplies are needed, unloading and tracking receipt of delivered inventory items Assist the customer services representatives when necessary, carrying food for clients and retrieving food or other supplies for CSRs and clients. Computer Skills Microsoft Office Cornerstone (preferred but not required) Smart Flow (preferred but not required) IDEXX Communication (preferred but not required) Education & Training High School Diploma or equivalent Must be 18 years of age or older Skills & Aptitudes Present professional appearance and positive conduct Punctuality and dependability highly valued Genuine ability to articulate of EVH brand communications in a positive manner Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient and customer care Critical thinking skills Independent judgment and decision making skills Detail oriented, ensuring accurate and reliable work product Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong ability to eectively work with cross-functional teams to direct and lead company initiatives and goals Able to work independently Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to switch focus rapidly in a fast paced environment Reliable transportation to oce Environment Must enjoy and be comfortable working with pets of all sizes and temperaments, including handling and lifting animals as necessary Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Ability to stand, sit, squat, or kneel to assist with patients Fast-paced, fluid work environment Lift up to 75 pounds assisted Stand/walk/move about for prolonged periods of time while at practice Schedule includes some evenings and weekends.
