Lanvale Animal Hospital is brand new general medicine practice serving dogs and cats in Leland, in the Cape Fear area of North Carolina, and the fastest-growing town in the state. The practice is privately owned and operated by Dr. Scott Pett, who previously owned and operated a highly regarded veterinary hospital for 15 years before moving to North Carolina. Our comfortable, welcoming hospital has a small-town vibe with advanced veterinary technologies. Position Overview:
We are seeking a friendly, personable Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various areas of veterinary care, including patient preparation, laboratory procedures, dentistry, radiography, client education, and customer service. Maintain cleanliness in hospital areas to create a safe and healthy environment for animals undergoing treatment or care in the practice. This role requires dedication to providing excellent care, multitasking abilities, and a commitment to staying organized in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare canine and feline patients in exam rooms for veterinarians by collecting thorough medical history and laboratory samples. Perform best practices restraint and administer SQ, IM, and IV injections as directed by veterinarians. Perform venipuncture for and conduct laboratory testing. Take radiographs on patients of all sizes. Perform dental radiographs and cleanings. Educate clients and convey knowledge regarding common veterinary conditions, diseases, terminology, and products/services. Assist with urgent/emergency cases as needed. Participate in daily cleaning and maintenance of hospital areas. Utilize tablets to chart electronic medical records. Utilize a multi-line phone system to make and triage calls. Process prescription refills via phone, fax, and email.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred. Proficiency in restraint techniques and administering medications. Ability to perform venipuncture and take radiographs. Strong communication skills and ability to educate clients effectively. Comfortable using electronic medical records and technology. Dedication to providing excellent customer service. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule:
Mondays:
8 am – 5 pm additional hours available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday No overnight cases or after-hours on-call responsibilities for doctors. All after-hours emergencies are referred to a local 24-hour facility.
