The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. At Ark Veterinary Hospital we see a wide range of species so the ideal candidate will be interested in working with large animals, exotics, and avian species in addition to dogs and cats. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures by providing necessary tools and equipment. Restrain animals safely and effectively during examinations and treatments. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner. Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis and fecal tests. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinarian. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas, exam rooms, and waiting areas. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and training techniques. Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, and exercising animals. Qualifications Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology is essential for understanding medical procedures. Experience with animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both staff and animals. Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is a plus. Understanding of aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during procedures. Experience in laboratory settings for conducting diagnostic tests is beneficial. Background in equine and large animal medicine is preferred but not mandatory. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a compassionate approach towards animals. A commitment to ongoing education in veterinary practices and animal care.
