Job Summary:

Part time with possibility of position becoming full time. Pay rate based on experience. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care for animals while assisting veterinarians in various procedures. This position requires a genuine love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.

Perform animal catheterization and administer medications as directed.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.

Provide animal restraint during examinations and treatments to ensure safety for both the animal and staff.

Conduct routine laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures.

Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian.

Support animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.

Handle dogs with care, utilizing appropriate dog training techniques when necessary.

Client relations and assisting in reception duties.

ExperiencePrevious experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required.

Familiarity with animal physiology and basic veterinary practices is advantageous.

Skills in animal handling, particularly with dogs and cats, are highly desirable.

Knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment is beneficial.

Experience with animal care techniques, including husbandry practices and restraint methods.
