Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff. Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various procedures and treatments
• Provide animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
• Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and exam rooms
• Administer medications as directed by veterinarians
• Perform laboratory tests and prepare samples for analysis
• Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
• Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment

Skills:

• Familiarity with veterinary critical care techniques
• Experience in dog training or behavior modification is a plus
• Strong understanding of animal handling techniques and safety protocols
• Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and sample preparation
• Ability to provide basic pet grooming services (bathing, nail trimming)
• Proficient in animal restraint techniques for various species
• Familiarity with aseptic technique in a veterinary setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in veterinary assisting is preferred
• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is highly desirable
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
