Job Summary:
As a Veterinary Assistant at our Veterinary Care Center, you’ll be an integral part of a dynamic team committed to providing excellent care for our animal patients. This role involves multitasking across various duties—ranging from surgical assistance to housekeeping. Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping:
Maintain cleanliness in kennels and public spaces Prepare and stock operating and exam rooms Conduct routine spot-cleaning Sterilize surgical equipment and maintain cleaning machinery
Patient Care:
Conduct initial assessments and flag health concerns to the veterinarian Assist in anesthesia and surgery procedures Monitor patients during and post-anesthesia Deliver consistently high-quality patient care
Medical Support:
Acquire foundational veterinary medical knowledge Effectively communicate medical concepts to pet owners Take patient histories and interact professionally with the public
Animal Handling:
Safely manage multiple dogs and cats daily Understand animal behaviors to assess risks Utilize safety equipment for challenging animal interactions
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand/sit for extended periods Lift up to 50lbs regularly Excellent fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination
Emotional & Mental Requirements:
Capacity to work effectively under stress Quick decision-making in medical emergencies Ability to cope with emotionally taxing situations
Potential Chemical Exposure:
Be aware that this role involves exposure to various chemicals, including cleaning solutions and anesthetic gases.

Work Environment:
Small animal hospital, work in front and back of hospital, high level of client interaction, exposure to x-rays and anesthetic gases with proper protective measures. Potential for exposure to zoonotic diseases and possible hazardous materials.
