We are looking for a motivated Veterinary Technician to join our growing team at Animal Medical West. In this role you will be working alongside a team of professionals who are all working together to deliver outstanding care to pets. The Veterinary Technician Assistants are responsible not only for providing this leading level of care, but also providing excellent customer service to the owners and other team members. The hospital hours are : Monday – Friday 7:15am-6:30pm Saturday / Sunday closed for medical appointments. 1 Saturday shift every 8 weeks 8:45-12 for admin duties. Set day off every week. 4 day work week Job Duties – General Check in patients – vitals, chief complaint, review records. Record case history, weight, temperature and other details. Prepare animals for exams or surgery. Perform dental procedures. Give animals nursing care or first aid. Collect and test lab samples. Administer medications, injections, or treatments as directed by a Veterinarian. Update patient records and post charges in the electronic medical record keeping system. Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, heartworm testing, feline leukemia tests and blood counts. Take x-rays. Maintain and use medical equipment such as IDEXX, Lab machines, dental machine, therapeutic laser. Sterilize instruments and equipment. Prepare animals for surgery. Administer and monitor anesthesia. Stabilize animals during examination and treatment. Trim nails, clean ears, express anal glands, remove sutures and perform other routine procedures. Provide basic education on animal care, nutrition and medical conditions. Teach clients how to administer medicines at home. Recommend products for optimal wellness, such as vitamins, supplements, dental cleaning, flea control, geriatric care and dietary measures. Maintain animal records and billing information. Prepare and label medications to be sent home with the patient. Clean and organize examination rooms. Pay is based on experience and qualifications
